A Pit Bull Sweetheart

This is a pastel on suede mat board that was done as a demo for another venue a while back. It was just a good old dog with great soul in their eyes.
Nothing wrong with that breed. One wonders why so many mixes are out there if they are such bad dogs???? Must be great lovers. ;-)

I have done so many watercolors, I had to just take a break. I WANT to do more oils but am literally running out of room with full sized paintings. Here is one of my old friend Zeppelin. It is 11x14" and I can give an online special of $425 if you are interested.

In the Golden Sunlight

It is just a blonde with the wind in her hair!

An Old Friend

I was at a dog event yesterday and with the wind and noise, I decided to wander, eat some coffee and a croissant and sit it out. And I look up and see my old friend Kanin and her owner! This is a pastel commission from a few years ago, but I had to bring here out again just to see how she had grown.

Deflated Toy

I tried something completely different for this.
It is an oil, 16x20 or my $960 price.
This little guy was absolutely oblivious to the fact that there was no air in his basketball!

Sleepy Puppy Diamond Canvas

This face was resting on a kneecap in a park a few weeks ago. BARELY keeping its eyes open, it was too pooped to pop, but would not give in! Too much fun, even if it is just for looking at!

PS, This is my 150th posting! I am committed for a year! I may slow down next Thanksgiving, but I am still painting puppies!

A Wheaten Gem

My little diamonds are back! This is a perfectly trimmed little Wheaten Terrier I caught trying to see through his fashion look. Just like teenagers, I wonder if it improves their vision by all that work?

Dan's Dog

I am pretty sure this won't blow the surprise but this is a special commission for my framer's wife for her birthday.
A little Bich-a-thingy! I love their little smiles!

Demo Daschshund

I have a pending commission. Up to five little guys! So I thought I would warm up my skills. This was just a cheery little guy I met at a community pet show last month. As a demo it is larger, 11x14" but as usual, for sale!

Last Dog to Thailand

This black beauty is the final of the quartet I sent off to my client on the other side of the world.
Thank heavens for Paypal!

A Yellow Pup

As cute as the Yellow Lab I did for this commission last week was, this little pup is about as perfect as can be! Heading off across the sea to Thailand soon.

A Toy for Thailand

This is the second of the commissions for my client in Thailand. A really cute teeny toy poodle. Not as white as we had to make her. A bit of a real dog, not for show!

I am not sure if it is just me, but is anyone else having troubles with some of the older posts? I see half loaded pictures and when I check the source, it LOOKS right, but they are not linking properly.

If you do, please drop me a line and I will see if I can load new photos. Not at all sure what the problem is, but I want to fix it!
(I think my Tosa-Inu and first Retriever for Thailand were the only ones. I have uploaded new pix. Hopefully that is all)

Yorkie with a Real Twinkle

This diamond canvas features one of the most animated little Yorkshire Terriers I spotted at a recent dog show! FULL of personality and completely well groomed. NOT exactly what you see in the dog park, but this is not exactly a painting for an every day dog!!

English Sheepdog Diamond

This is one of my prize miniature canvases. I just love the attitude and action of this guy! 5x5" square canvas for $85 plus shipping.

A Cute Little Duo

I just signed up for some temporary space in a Home and Garden permanent expo hall. Until paying vendors pop in, I have a small studio space. As an intro, my art group had a small show and I painted this little oil on site.
It is 11x17" $950 unframed narrow wrapped oil on canvas.

HA! Never heard of that one before!!! It is a Japanese dog (I am betting that Inu means dog in Japanese, not sure about the Tosa) But I started... and finished this as a demonstration for the show I painted all the minis for.
There is something about those oils. When I am away from them I don't quite get the appeal, but when I am on a roll... they are like BUTTER in so many ways.
9x12" oil on canvas commission.

Gentle Collie

One of the more balanced and restful pieces. Soulful Collie! Not sure how come it turned out looking so plaintive, but such a sweetheart.

Solo Basset

My recent double portrait was a big success, so I used a picture of a different dog, equally soulful, for the diamond mini canvases.

Another Runner!

I used this reference a few weeks ago for a larger pastel painting and wanted a little more of that Dachshund enthusiasm!  I acutally completed about 16 of these for a recent show (I am literally having trouble typing, my HAND HURTS...) so we shall be featuring these little canvases in the blog for a while.  OR at least when things slow down, and I don't have business... maybe when I go on vacation!  But I am getting ahead of myself.  MUCH like this dog!

Double Bassett Painting

It was one of those very fun experiences that I blocked in quickly, liked how it looked and with a few checks from the client, I think it is one of my super fast masterpieces! 9x12 in oil.
(Oh, since I finished it, I had a wild hair to show it to my art league and won Artist of the Month at the Scottsdale Artist's league Tuesday!!! I finally have taste too!)

Aussie Diamond

I saw this dog at a show recently and the light was just perfect! Decided to present this as one of my not so rough diamonds!

A Mini-Schnauzer in Oil

BIG surprise last week, I got two commissions from friends for paintings of their dogs. I just submitted the first one for approval and I think they like it. Now to dry!

Second Diamond

This little Bulldog was a little bit tricky. The new technique is a lot about using white for details. I painted myself into a corner using a white dog... but I think I painted out. Also on a deep wrapped 5x5"

Something Very New

I was intrigued by that watercolor canvas and started playing around. I sort of figured it had a few good points so I started playing with some 5" squares. They are deep wrapped canvases an I think they are about the same price as my watercolors, $85... I have a few successes under my belt and a few more in my brain.

Half Way Cross the World!

We were 14 hours different when I last emailed my new client from Thailand! This is the first of four we are going to do of the family of canines!  I LOVE the internet!

Droopy, Drippy Bloodhound

I HATE to experiment in front of a crowd, but I brought a canvas that was supposed to work with watercolor.  I guess it did, but it was WORK!  I had a lot of fun figuring out how it was supposed to work and finished it up with great big brushes, not the usual three or four hairs!  Anyway it is 11x14" and sells for $380.

Weaving Corgi

You don't have to be tall to be agile!  I am going to try to find a few obedience trials.  I will tell you, there is not way to try to paint this competition from life!  I need the guys who can sit and stay for 20 minutes.  Much more fun than a landscape.

Shiba Inu

Sometimes my head spins trying to figure out exactly what I am seeing.  I can give you all the descriptions "foxlike" small "Spitz" type..... but I had three options and had to actually research this guy.  Small but mighty a real oriental gem.

Red-Headed Irish Gal

How lovely!  The evening light cast long purple shadows and the breeze touched her lovely hair.  How come I keep thinking of Maureen O'Hara?
