A Wire Terrier

This was the first dog I ever knew as a terrier.  I don't see them as much as I used to.  All dressed up and ready to show, they are pretty spiffy.  HOWEVER, I have a couple of ideas in my head for a guy I saw who was a couple of weeks past his haircut and soooo cute!  Great dog, messy or kempt!

Yellow Lab

I have no idea why, but I keep forgetting to paint a nice yellow labrador retriever.  They are everywhere, sweet, gentle and possibly because of that, I forget!

So here we go!

Pastel Demonstration in my Workshop

I have been doing some oil painting and pastel workshops lately, which is why I am racing my blog of late... too much prepping and not enough painting!  So here is the demonstration I did today for my pastel over watercolor technique.  I am pretty sure there is a bit more work to do, but this week is the work in progress week!  You will have to forget it so I can post it later finished!

Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen

....whew! I have seen them in the Westminster shows and they call them PBGV's and so when I saw this one sitting in a tent, waiting for the group show, my mind was inventorying... Not a Dandy Dinmont, it didn't have those eyes in front.... not a small dog, this guy was hefty...Suddenly heebee jeebies came to mind and I asked, slightly less distinctly than one who knows what they are talking about, if this was... well one of them.
Bingo!
Sometimes I think those hours watching TV paid off!

Oil in progress

Sorry gang! I got tied up in the middle of a commission and found out, after showing a few progress shots, that the poor kid was put down during the commission. I am not done but got a bit distracted. This is the face of the sweety when I found out it was going to be a memorial, not just a portrait.

Little Sprout

He he he... I have been craving Brussels Sprouts lately and it is late tonight as I finished this and I could not hold back the pun...
This Brussels Griffon caught my eye with his pink little tongue and that look of forgetting to stop before the wall came up!

Lhasa Apso

I will admit right now, it is really hard to tell what is under all the hair. But nothing says royal like a Lhasa Apso. However, it is apparent they have a sense of humor. I think there are many at a show that are endlessly amused at the goings on around them. This was a serious spectator... well we HOPE they could see it all!

Briard

Still racing a bit, this is an older painting and rarer pup - a Briard, in full beard! I actually saw one of these recently without the rich mane. Skinny and all ears!

Russell

I brought this picture with me on a two day trip that stretched into a three day! After a brief panic, I found my paints and finished the painting on the floor of my mother's living room. This is an edit from my home, but I found that in a pinch, I can upload photos from my Picasa program.... good to know. You KNOW you would have hated to miss this tough little Russell Terrier!

White Bull Terrier

I JUST LOVE these dogs.... to look at. But I understand they are a lot like a playful tank. Not really up for it. I still just think they are as cute as cute can get!

Silky Terrier

Silky indeed!  This little one was sitting on a reflective table, ready to show.  Looking a bit tired of standing, but a glowing pewter color!  Wow, I am sort of happy I have cats when I see the work these really elegant dogs take.  I wonder if their grooming brushes would help MY mane!

Abby The Sheltie

Um... I may have a few more of these.  They come in waves!  I seem to attract breeds,  for a while.  So to add to my Tibetan Terriers, Giant Schnauzers and Black Labs,  I have  great new Sheltie named Abby.

Smooth Runner

Aha!  A collie is under there!  

I caught this one racing for a long pass at the park a while back!

Windblown Sheltie

I just loved the look of this little one, waiting in the tent. Well coiffed, patient and with a look that just KNEW before they entered, who the winner would be.

This is a larger piece, on 9 x 6" watercolor paper for $120. Unframed, unmatted.

Second Little Cairn

Again, 8x10" Pastel or my $200 style. Watercolors or pastel pricing are interchangeable. Size and subject are your only variables.... think "GIFTS FOR MOTHERS AND FATHERS DAY"

I only recently have been doing watercolor as my main medium. Three cute Cairn Terriers that were on display have come home so I am going to put them up.
They are all 8x10" and sell for $200 at that size. Just for some variety, here is the first!

Starlet

I have been in a Cocker Spaniel flood. First I could find NONE, now I am awash. This lady was cleaned, coiffed and absolutely stunning waiting patiently for her debut.

Blue Frisbee Carrier

I love watching the dogs going home at the end of the day. There are a few that are just helping out, carrying the toys themselves... just in case there is ONE more chance to play.

Entrance

Running in the ring, they come in and take over.  This Dachshund stepped in and was sizing up the competition.  Small but definitely mighty.

Cardigan Corgi

I went to Wales a long time ago to meet the forbears kids.  Up the coast I drove and it is as beautiful as can be.  Softer and gentler than Scottland.  A wee bit less green, than Ireland, but so rolling and beautiful.  This Cardigan Corgi, with lovely dark eyeliner, I always remember thinking a chill was in the air and the more colored coat would do well with a buttoned sweater.... or that is how I remember them.

Maltese Superstar

Waiting in the wings and confident, one of the Maltese Winners, was sitting with the slightest breeze showing how much work her handler had put into those long straight locks.  The minute it hit ground, a GOOD SHAKE, undid all the hard work!

Jimmy

A sweet little commission of a very old friend who can see the finish line of life.

Hopefully, I have not show any sadness, just the worried look of the face that was always there when you needed her.

100!!!!

I guess since this is a double and there were a few more, it is acutally 103 dogs, but this is my 100th post!  I am really excited!

Bearded Daschshund

I have a few shots of this little fellow, whom I was calling Ms Congeniality at the dog show. There was a real joy of the event. The weather was hotter and hotter, but this little smiling face was friendly and active throughout the show.

Airedale

I have seen some really good looking Terriers in the last few days. There is something so crisp about these guys polished up and ready to show. I have a very soft spot for an old friends Airedale. Bright, smart dogs.

Happy Little Frenchy

I apologize to you out there under foot deep and deeper snow, but today at the dog show was JUST this side of HOT. In the shade, showing with all their heart, the dogs literally did not show the stress. This guy was just taking it all in and loving it.

GSD with a Tennis Ball

Since my brother's German Shepherd was the last one I had time for, I figure we need another good GSD. At play with the regular gang at the dog park.

White as the Top of a Dandelion

All there was, was a glow of white around this dear little competitor. This one won a group but all you can tell is the Bischon was the perfect little puff ball!

Butterfly Ears

At the dog shows this weekend, this little Papillon was darting in and out among the shaded chairs, watching the crowd while its mom was watching the competition.
