Lost Masterpiece!

As confused as my studio is, I try hard to at least keep thing in GROUPS... but looking for some framing materials I cam across an old sketch book and between the white pages this fell out!   A pastel, 9x13".  When I die, remember to look through my old sketchbooks please!

Pudge

I do a lot of commissions, but this is a special one.

Growing up, my grandma had a one-eyed cat called

"Mommy". I had a tripod named Feather.

Pets with infirmaties are still GREAT PETS.

Pugganeer!

I swear, Pug owners are the worst for renaming everything with a Pug reference. This little pirate was at a Halloween party a few years ago. Pugs are fashionistas! No dog is happier all dressed up!

More for the Pugsters. This is a painting I did when I helped out at the rescue events a few years ago for "In The Raw" a great local pet friendly place. I did pictures to practice and met a lot of great dogs. The owner had this little girl and she was the poster pug for our Halloween party!

You Want PUGS???

One of my followers was delighted to see my black pug posted earlier this week. Well... after my huskies, I was a real sweetheart of the puggy set. Lots of donations to events like Pug-a-palooza and Pug-stock! I will see if I can dig up my pug Carmine Miranda!!

Here is the secret:

When painting black dogs (or cats) start on a piece of black background.  Then add the details!  Not that it saves time, but it is like Michaelangelo said about sculpting a horse.   (I freely translate:) "Just take a block of marble and carve away everything that does NOT look like a horse."

Divo, the Puggle

I saw my first Puggle this summer and now the world is full of them!  Our local star is Divo, the male Diva (you can read his name on his collar).  Although not my first puggle friend, he is definately the most visible these days, so we have presented him in the blog because he was one of our off-leash pioneers.
