Westie Profile

Not as easy to do the minis, so a bit larger in pastel.
8x6" pastel. These are $120. Not going to be able to get those tiny brush strokes....

Aussie Terrier This Time!

I bet you thought all those Australian dogs did was herd cattle and sheep. NOPE. This is a good old terrier who loves to dig in the dirt. Well, maybe not THIS one:

Weiner Dog Mascot

Don't tell me the internet is not a real live community!
This dog was a photo provided by a friend who lives in Australia. I did the picture which was seen by a group in California, who wanted not only to buy it, but make it poster for the "Weiner Dog Races" inthe Dogtoberfest of Atascadero!
My friend and I got T-shirts!!

McDuff

This is a request for an oldie but a goodie!
The lovely little Dachshund Grendel from earlier this year is a roommate of the noble McDuff. An Irish Wolf Hound. The comment is usually "what a long tongue!". In the scale of the dog, it is just about right!

Pastel Wire Fox Terrier

Branching out, I am in a bit of a pastel mood. This is a larger piece, 8x10" which I sell for $200. I think this one has a very nostalgic feeling!

Soulful Beard

Just a face that has been haunting me for a while.
A little Bearded Dachshund.

Born to Run

I got this blur of a greyhound at full out stretch and never could do justice to the photo. I am going to try a few more immediate sketches using watercolor and pen and ink to see if I can loosen up a bit and still get the impression of the dog... be kind, this is my first try:
AND THANK YOU ALL! I HAVE OVER 50 FOLLOWERS NOW!

A Flash of Brindle

More of my runners.  This great looking coat just flashed past me at the park.  All I could make out was the bright glow of the green ball.

Maltese Pup

Not all the well groomed well behaved dogs at the show are all grown up!  This pup was about as good as a doggy could be, just waiting to get his well earned praise!

Pushing My Envelope

Did I tell you all that I was a portrait painter? Well, I have not really been busy MAKING portraits but I am into humans a bit much. So I don't slack, my latest adventure in pastels has a dog...

Old Grey

I admit it! I am a slacker. A broken refrigerator, rearranging my house to use my skylight and a busy day cleaning got me to ten tonight with NO DOG! So here is an oldie but goodie.

Some time ago I was at a Renaissance Faire and snapped a dog who was dressed like his master, a lord. Immortalized in oil, here is my OLDE Greyhound.

Pom-Chin

The second part of this little matched set is a Pomeranian - Chin mix. She is a blonde bombshell.

Chin Mix Charmer

At my high school reunion, I was thrilled to see a few four legged attendees. This Peke-Chin Mix is one of a pair of great bookends that showed up with a former classmate.

Running Yorkie

This little model, from a dog show, was so perfect, I admit I have three or four great glamor shots of her. I try not to overload a breed so she is being spread out in bits. BUT I have always thought of these dogs as being feather dusters on feet. AM I WRONG??

Another Good Old Dog

I have been looking at the photo I used for this guy for months. There was something so perfectly dog about him. I personally, think I may have missed that ESSENCE of DOG that he projected... but I got most of it!

Sweet Doberman Friend

A welcome commission of a great friend. Goofy, and dear, this elegant young man will be a great gift for the loving owner.

Goofy Chihuahua

I guess I am on a Chihuahua tear! I had this fellow show up at a Halloween party and he wore the craziest necklace of pumpkins! Maybe a little fashion show later in the year, but for now, his sweet and goofy face:

Looking Westie!

Just running through some of my favorite photos and this little Westie caught my eye. Most of the paint is AROUND him, not on him!

Lovely Golden

Just a sweet face I caught at the park. Golden dog, golden day.

Australian Cattle Dog

On vacation, but always working. I started sketching this Aussie Cattle Dog on the airplane on the way to Denver and finished it in a Starbucks in Littleton Colorado! Blogs never cease.

Ridgeback Sketch

I was running out of time and dashed off this soulful Rhodesian Ridgeback. A much better and detailed painting is due this handsome boy, but this is all I have today:

Big Black Dane

Regal and statuesque. There is a challenge to the black dogs. They have lots more color than black... but this guy, was so.... nothing but a Black Dane.

Friday, August 7, 2009

Pharaoh Hound

There is something so perfect about this dog. It looks like Annubis, the god of the Egyptians, so ancient and wise... and do PINK!

Thursday, August 6, 2009

Black Frenchie

There is something so silly/sweet in the face of a French Bulldog. The ears you just want to grab... and something in their personality that KNOWS you do. A bit resigned and plugging on, I saw this fellow checking up to its human to be sure things were going right.

A Dobie to Love

Although I have lost this sweetie's name, I am sure we could find out. These diamonds are all portraits that benefit local rescue groups. This is to aid Desert Harbor Dobermans

And half the proceeds of its sale goes to the group.

Walter, Not Your Run of the Mill!

Walter is one of four pups rescued from a puppy mill. He is vibrant and out going, and a real cutie! He has a couple of white brothers I have posted earlier, and Pippen, his pal is out and adopted. Read about him HERE.
His 50/50 canvas is here!

The Valley of the Sun Giant Schnauzer Rescue is sponsoring this fellow. Hardy by name. His rescue page is HERE.
Buy the diamond canvas and half the price goes to his doctor bills and Schnauzer rescue.

Quiet Hunter

I always will remember Basenji dogs from TV shows when I was young. Loved documentaries and ate them up. A cute little dog that CAN'T bark? What a cool thing! This was a face I caught at a dog show this year.

Fluffy

You never know out in the park, but I am thinking this specimen has some papillon. It is all about the ears.
