Two of Sophie

I have done a number of portraits of her mini-schnauzers, and I guess I should know to be heartbroken when I hear from her.  Just days earlier she lost her silver mini, Sophie.  After working with her photos and giving her ideas she felt it took two pieces to capture her personality.  

This is a 10x10" watercolor on wrapped canvas.

And to catch that happy smile, a small 7x5" miniature watercolor.   

Tiny Gift for a Favor

My boyfriend was the recipient of some VERY needed generosity.  With no real way to pay back, I begged him for a photo of their dog, but I got terrible blurry digital phone pix.  

However, it is the feeling and sense of the pet that seemed to win the day.

His report was HUGE gratitude and their daughter hung it in her dorm room... misses the family pet.

TWO GOOD DEEDS!  A great day!

Riding Pride

Another horse portrait which was painted the Mountain Oyster Club show this year.  

It is an unusual oil painting, in that the canvas I used was actually denim.  I think it is about as Western as you can get!  

Chili

More of those ENORMOUS dogs with hard feet.  Okay I am going to be sneaking in more of my western portraits.  Anything with eyeballs these days.  This is the second of four in a family I have done.  Well, it is the second of the SECOND.  A terrible accident befell the original (earlier in the blog) and this is the redo.  Although the client understood the first one was not my problem, that the work was done and the destruction their fault, there seems to still be some issues with compensation.  That aside, this is a wonderful horse and I don't hold it against him.

Chili, first try

Poor baby met with a few disasters... including a big nasty tear and a bit of spilled... well no telling.  This no longer exists, but this is his first incarnation was supposed to be (and finished ) in time for Valentines.  22x15" charcoal on coffee stained watercolor paper

Christmas is starting!

Although this is a private commission, not a gift, it is the first of what I would call the RUSH.

One of my minis and, as I am now all mammal, it is not a dog.

Horsey Hug

Yup, these are some of the big doggies out here!
I have a few requests for horse portraits and am very happy to do them. Because I am a bit busier doing other projects, I am going to only post commissions or whims from now on. I have found the many irons in my fire are starting to heat up!
